Lying between the peaks of Kilimanjaro and Meru, Arusha National Park is an outstandingly beautiful area. The Park has a wide range of habitats, from the string of crater lakes where many water birds can be watched, through the highland montane forest and on up to the imposing summit of Mt. Meru. Arusha National Park is one of the few in Tanzania to allow walking safaris, in part because it is a small park with few dangerous predators.
Arusha National Park is a relatively small park, covering an area of 137 square kilometers (52.9 square miles), and lies near Arusha Town. Situated at the foot of Mount Meru, this breathtaking park includes the alkaline Momella Lakes, the Ngurdoto Craters and spectacular waterfalls. It’s one of the few parks in Tanzania where you can enjoy a walking safari. Although Arusha National Park is one of the smallest parks In Tanzania, it is also one of the most beautiful with spectacular views of Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro and the Ngurdoto Crater. Abundant wildlife and the shallow, alkaline Momella Lakes attract a wide variety of wader birds, particularly flamingos.
Everywhere throughout the Park there are chances to observe the natural world at its own pace, different wild animals and different and various habitats that offer holiday serenity. Those who ascend the summit of the mountain will be rewarded with unparalleled views of the majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro and the Rift Valley.
Getting to Arusha national park:
An easy 40-minute drive from Arusha. It’s approximately 60 km (35 miles) from Kilimanjaro International Airport. One can spend a night in Arusha hotels or Moshi hotel and do a day trip in this germ of Arusha city.
