You will play golf at the Nyeri Sports Club.
Nyeri Sports
Club
3326 yards - par 33 - 9 holes
Nyeri Sports Club is the second oldest course in the country,
founded in 1910. This 9-hole course is laid out in a superb setting
and offers exquisite scenery. While standing on the tee of the 6th,
Mt Kenya can be seen looming above the green, giving a breathtaking
view of nature in all its glory.
The greens are well
bunkered with both sand and grass traps. The roughs are the highest
you will find anywhere as the lay-out skirts around a thick forest
of very tall evergreens. Add to this mixture a stream and a valley,
and you have the recipe for a difficult game of golf. Nyeri's golf
course is very pretty indeed and highly recommended for play for the
ardent and the family golfer.
Day 3
After breakfast you will drive back to Nairobi in your mini bus.
KTS61:
Mount Kenya Safari Club By Road
2 Days / 1 Night
Day 1
Depart from Nairobi in the morning by bus and head towards the Mount
Kenya region.
Mount Kenya & The Aberdares Region
These two neighbouring areas are in the Central Highlands of Kenya
and have an amazing geography of contrast. The deep green of cultivated
farmland gives way to the purple-gray scrub grass of high ranches
where cattle, sheep and plains game graze. The mountain ranges are
covered with forests with hidden trout streams. In the centre is
the Mt. Kenya (5189m) - among the world's largest free-standing
volcanic mountains.
The equator crosses the northern slopes of the Mt. Kenya at 3350
metres. At the equator slight variations of altitude create enormous
changes in both climate and landscape causing diverse weather changes.
You can pass from the cool misty forest of the Aberdares to the
dry Laikipia Plateau scenery offers different choices to the
traveler
in terms of places to stay and activities. 185 kms to the Aberdares
and 250 kms to Mount Kenya from Nairobi.
Mount Kenya Safari Club
This is the most luxurious club in Kenya - Mount Kenya Safari Club.
Founded in 1959 by the late film star William Holden, eccentric
American Ray Ryan and Swiss Financier Carl Hirschmann, it has been
a Mecca for the International Jet Set - its list of Members reads
like "Who's Who" of royalty, aristocracy, and the rich
and famous.
The club offers a 9 hole golf course, horse trekking, tennis courts,
health and beauty centre, shopping gallery and a heated swimming
pool. The suites and studio suites are splendid, each with a private
bathroom and shower, telephone and a log fireplace. Some are situated
by the Riverside, making one feel like they are one with nature.
114 Rooms, Suites and Cottages.
Mount Kenya Golf Course
2184 metres par 27 - 9 holes Mount Kenya Safari Club is an experience
that the visitor must include in his or her itinerary. Nowhere in
the world do you come face to face with one of nature's greatest
anomalies - a snow capped mountain lying on the equator! This exclusive
rich man's retreat opened in 1959. Despite the fact that this is
a 9 - hole pitch and putt, composed entirely of par 3 holes, it
is absolutely brutal.
While the course is laid out on one of the most beautiful and serene
settings in Africa, you have to be very accurate. The water hazards
are many and coupling with the splendid views of Mount Kenya from
virtually every hole on the course with the variety of flowers and
birds decorating it, the golfer is sure to leave Mt. Kenya with
lasting memories.
Today you will relax by the pool or play golf. You can also visit
the game sanctuary.
Day 2
After breakfast you will drive back to Nairobi.
