LODGES IN AMBOSELI
AMBOSELI SERENA LODGE.
It is regarded as Africa’s finest lodges.
It is situated besides a copse of giant acacia trees and natural
flowing springs to give a full view of the highest mountain in
Africa Mt. Kilimanjaro. The lodge has been influenced by the
African cultural motifs. Each room is individually appointed
with authentic Africana and murals painted by renowned African
artists.
In terms of accommodation, there are 96
guest rooms all with bath and shower. Within the grounds of
Amboseli Serena there is a fully air conditioned conference room
with unobstructed view of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The room is suitable
for conferences and small banquets.
The dining room which situate near the salt
lick and floodlit water hole serves fresh juices, soft drinks,
tea, coffee, wines, cocktails and international cuisines. For
sometime relaxing time, you may try the lodges’ swimming pool
which is situated beside a large verandah.
Just as an advanced special treat the
guests are treated to a mountain a high breakfast and an
afternoon tea can also be served if you at your request.
OLTUKAI LODGE.
It is located right in Amboseli National
Park and it lies on the foothills of the highest mountain in
Africa, The Kilimanjaro. The lodge has 80 rooms all giving
visitors the beautiful sight of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
There is a swimming pool where guests enjoy
their time. Beside it is the Elephant bar which offers a great
menu for relaxation and enjoyment. The cottage style
accommodation spreads out on either side of the main lodge: the
architecture is unobtrusive with lots of wood, local slate and
stone.
The lodge offers a 24 hour telephone and
radio call services for those who might want to use them. If you
are interested in knowing more about the elephants, there is a
research station here. On request guests are served with
champagne on the summit of observation hill, where they have a
360 degree excellent view.
AMBOSELI SOPA:
It is a perfect rendezvous for the
adventurer wishing to conquer the snowcapped the peaks of Mt.
Kilimanjaro or for the seasoned traveler indulging in the
exhilarating safari experience.
The lodge consists of 18 deluxe rooms 20
double rooms and 9 singles. Each room consist its own verandah
and full bathroom. It also offers baby coats for the young
guests. The physically challenged are also catered for. They are
accommodated in their special rooms which are rampant access to
the lodge is available for them.
There is a swimming pool and a bar for
those who want to relax and have a drink in the evenings and
watch Mt. Kilimanjaro open up. The bar serves cocktail, wines,
soft drinks, beer, spirits and wines. Amboseli Sopa offers
international cuisine. A combination of European, African,
American, Indian and are all made using fresh produce. Breakfast
and lunch is served in buffet style. Dinner is served as a four
course meal table d’horte.
TORTILIS CAMP
This camp is named after the tortilis
umbrella (the umbrella thorn tree). The camp faces Mt.
Kilimanjaro plus it’s just beside the lushfull hills. In terms
of accommodation, you will first enter your private stones
verandah with a comfortable Lamu style day bed which is perfect
for afternoon siestas.
The camps have wooden raised wooden
platform sheltered by thatched roof which gives it an African
finish. The light beige canvas, striking furnishings and local
artifacts give each tent a warm and relaxing charm. The double
and twin beds are generously big and comfortable for the guests.
From the dressing area, a door leads in an insuite bathroom with
a pressure shower and a flush toilet.
There is a swimming pool where the parents
can relax in the pool whilst the kids enjoy a dip, with iced
drinks from the poolside bar. Laundry work is also offered to
the guests during your stay.
The camp’s tents are very spacious, each
with shaded verandahs which gives guests great view and
privacy.
OL KANJAU camp
It is sited just at the end of Africa’s
highest mountain, Mt. Kilimanjaro whose icy ream is just 40km
south of Tanzania. Ol Kanjau is a traditionally styled tented
camp which is kept as simple as possible to enable you to listen
to the quiet nature and smell the clean air and count the a
million stars up in the sky.
It’s a traditional mobile tented camp has
and has six specious and luxury tents, with large comfortable
beds, safari styled bathroom, with bucket showers, hot water is
also available anytime day or evening.
Guests at Ol Kanjau enjoy full board
accommodation including soft drinks, beer, cocktail and house.
The camp facilitates nature walks and walking safaris with
kisongo ecosystem. There is also bird watching for those who
love birds.
AMBOSELI KIBO SAFARI CAMP:
It is situated approximately 250 km drive
from Nairobi. The camp exudes a rustic appeal to luxury as most
of its construction was implemented with use of natural
materials hence giving it a more natural look.
All tents
are unsuited with built in showers and toilets, also has a
separate open terraced restaurant and Bar under acacia trees
overlooking the majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro. The camp is surrounded
by an electric fence to keep the large animals out.
Activities
in the camp include: Game drives and cultural visits to the
Masai villages to know more about the masai and there way of
living. There dance performances by the local masai people as
you enjoy the evening bonfires.
